DeLovely Details!

Okay, so when I received this adorable dish as a wedding present (currently being used to soak corn :o)) I had to investigate it's origins!
In case you can't see it clearly, it says "the ballards" with a little heart on each side.  Too cute!
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this delovely dish was a product of a new etsy shop, DeLovely Details, run by Drew and Nikki Abejon.  I have known Drew since elementary school and he happens to come from a super talented family (I will be blogging about his mom and his sister in future posts so keep an eye out!).  After Nikki received rave reviews for a personalized wood box she gave to her best friend for her bridal shower, she and Drew decided they should present their creative talents to the masses.  Now they offer a bunch of super cute and personalized items through their etsy shop.  Here are some of my favorite DeLovely products:
Such a cool idea for a guest book!

How adorable would this look in wedding pictures?

Okay, I'm not going to lie, this is my absolute favorite.  What a brilliant idea!  No more wine glass mix ups!
Go check out the DeLovely Details store!  Enter the code "funkypink10" and they will even give you 10% off your purchase!  Thank you Nikki and Drew, can't wait to see what you guys come up with in the future!

Picture Frame Earring Holder

I don't know about you, but I always have a really hard time finding cool ways to display jewelry.  Boxes are clunky and I have yet to find a functional and cute earring holder, so I decided to make one.  This project was super easy and fast and now I don't feel like I need to hide my earrings before company comes over!

Here are the steps:

1.  I started with a white 8x10 picture frame from Ikea (happened to have quite a lot of these left over after the wedding), scissors, yellow ribbon, pretty paper and super glue (I later switched to hot glue, worked better).

2.  I took the plastic and everything out of the frame and glued the ribbon in strips.  I glued to the back of the frame so none of the yuckiness would show.
3.  I put the plastic protector sheet and the pretty paper back in the frame (behind the ribbon, that's where you hang the earrings so it needs to be outside the frame) and voila!  A super cute and functional jewelry display.

I love that you can customize this just by changing the frame, paper, and/or ribbon.  You can make it match your existing decor in any room of the house.  And it's a great excuse to buy more earrings!

Starbucks Glass Bottle Vases

Okay, I feel really bad because I stole this idea from another website and now I can't remember which one!  I did modify it a bit, but if I find the original I will post the link.  I made these for our rehearsal lunch, but you could totally personalize them for any special occasion, or with general cute terms for around the house.  Here's the finished product:

Here's how to complete the project:

1)  Probably the most fun step, buy the small glass bottle version of Starbucks frappucinos and drink them!
2)  Once you have a bunch of empty bottles, take off the labels and scrub off any remaining sticky stuff.
3)  Spray paint the bottles white.  I used a cheap spray paint and wasn't very patient, so they came out a little splotchier than I would have liked, so invest in good paint and take your time!
4)  Decorate with the words of your choice.  I used colorful stickers that I found at Michael's.  You could also print out transfers from your computer, or if you have a steady hand, paint or stencil them on.
5)  Fill with the flowers of your choice (I am partial to Gerber daisies).  I have a couple displayed in my classroom and I can't help but smile when I see them!

Happy crafting!

How Many Blogs Can One Girl Write?

A lot apparently!  Hopefully this is going to be my final stop on the blog train!  Now that my wedding is over (and I am suffering from some serious withdrawals) I am focusing most of my attention on our home buying search.  Along with that is a new obsession with design and design blogs.  The day the Ikea catalog arrived?  Almost as exciting as the new issue of Martha Stewart Living.  I will still be sharing wedding ideas here (my wedding pics should be ready any day now), but now I will also include my adventures in home decor, party planning, baking, and all of those other wifely duties I will now partake in.  I can't wait to get started!  For those of you who have been with me from the beginning, you're amazing (and probably related to me in some way).  To the newcomers, welcome.  To all of you, enjoy!
