Record Bookends!

Last week some of the girls came over to mi casa for a wine and craft day.  They were kind enough to share some of their projects with me and now I get to share them with you!  This one comes from my darling friend Lisa, who is super crafty and creative.  This project was way easy and the final results come out super cute, especially for those of you who are into music.  The first step is to get at least two records that you don't mind sacrificing.  It also helps if the records have cool labels, but you will not be able to listen to these again, so choose wisely!  Once you have your records, boil a big pot of water.  It needs to be legit boiling (we tried hot water from the tap and it definitely didn't work).  Take the boiling water and put it into a baking pan.

Put the record in the boiling water.  The water should come up to right below the label.  You will see the record starting to become pliable within seconds.  Once it is bendable, pull it out of the water.

Place the record on the counter or a hard surface.  Use a cutting board to shape the record.  Press the cutting board into the pliable portion of the record to shape it as a book end.  Hold it for about a minute.  Check the shape and make sure it is going to stand up on its own.  If you need to reshape, insert it back in the water and mold it again.  Here is the finished product:

Definitely going to be making some of these for the hub's office!  After we got the water boiling, I think this project took maybe five minutes.  So cute!  Thanks for sharing Lisa!
